Importance of Smoke Detectors
Installing smoke detectors is crucial for ensuring the safety of your home and family. These devices serve as early warning systems, alerting you to the presence of smoke or fire so you can evacuate quickly. By having smoke detectors properly installed throughout your home, you significantly reduce the risk of injury or even death in the event of a fire.
Remember to test your smoke detectors regularly to ensure they’re functioning correctly. It’s recommended to have smoke detectors in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home, including the basement. Taking these simple steps can make a big difference in keeping your loved ones safe from potential fire hazards.
Using the lastest RF technology to minimise cost and mess installing new smoke and heat detectors
We are aware it can be daunting getting trades people in and the hassle, mess and stress that comes with it. Old smoke detectors worked by a cable interlinking each detector in the house so when there is a fire or hazard the detectors go off simultaneously. This meant that to install detectors throughout the property from scratch involved lengthy installation times and mess throughout the home having to get carpets and floorboards up to route cabling. This no longer has to be an issue and installation has never been easier due to the products now available on the market we are able to offer you.
We offer “RF” (Radio Frequency) detectors that are interlinked using radio frequency within the bases themselves no different to how your phone connects to a speaker or your car. This allows for reduced labour time and mess throughout the house and brings your home or property up to a safe standard without the added stress that having electrical works done can cause. These bases also come with battery back up so if the power drops out or there is a power cut the smoke detectors are still operational.
Costs & Charges
Generally new smoke detectors and heat detectors are around £40-£45 to supply + Labour. We only supply the highest quality materials and only fit the market leading manufacturers and brands. This alleviates returns back to the job to rectify issues that naturally come with cheap, sub standard quality materials.
RF smoke detectors are usually around £120 + VAT for the RF base and the detection head. Where the RF version is considerably more for the materials it saves massively on labour where there is currently no smoke detectors in the house and would normally require cables to be routed between each new detector.
Types of Smoke Detectors
Consider exploring the different types of smoke detectors available to ensure you choose the most suitable option for your home’s safety needs.
There are primarily two types of smoke detectors: ionization and photoelectric. Ionization detectors are more responsive to flaming fires, while photoelectric detectors are better at detecting smouldering fires. Generally we install smoke detectors for landings, hallways & bedrooms and heat detectors for kitchens to minimise nuisance alarms that come with having a smoke detector in the kitchen.
Dual-sensor smoke detectors combine both technologies for comprehensive coverage. You can also opt for smart smoke detectors that can send alerts to your phone and integrate with home automation systems. Some models come with features like voice alerts and even carbon monoxide detection. We are also able to supply and install carbon monoxide detetctors too!
